Tech 4 Stampers Academy Blog Hop Title

Welcome to this month’s Tech 4 Stampers Academy Blog Hop

The theme this month is Brilliant Blending

When I saw this month’s theme I first thought of summer skies and living in the Fens we have some wonderful skies every day. I also love making cards using the blending technique as no matter how hard you try no one card looks the same. So my project for this month’s Blog Hop was to make a Turtle card using the Turtle Friends Stamp set and matching punch to showcase Brilliant Blending. As I have done a summer sky card using the blending technique for last month’s Blog Hop I decided that this month I would blend an evening sky card.

How to do the sky blending

I started off by cutting two 9.5cm x 13.8cm of Basic White cardstock. Next I die cut a circle out of a sticky note ensuring that some of the sticky side was covered by the circle to make a template for the moon. I then laid one of the pieces onto a scrap piece of paper as this will allow me to start blending on the outside of the card stock and move across it with the Blending Brush.

I started by using a blending brush and Misty Moonlight ink to blend the dark blue line at the top of the card. Next I used Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Real Red ink to make up the other layers of the sky blending them slightly over each other. I then used the Garden Green ink blending it along the bottom to look like grass.

Next I removed the circle sticky note and using the blending brush I had used for the Misty Moonlight I added the ink to the ‘moon’ shape as we all know that the moon is not white. I did the same with the blending brush I had used for the Daffodil Delight ink.

Finishing off the Turtle Card

Once I was happy with the blending I splattered some Wink of Stella over the sky to look like stars. Next I stamped the grass outline stamp using Evening Evergreen ink. I then punched out the turtle shape using the Turtle Punch and Basic Black card stock before using Stampin’ Dimensionals to stuck to the blended mat layer. Next I used the heart stamp and Real Red ink to stamp hearts just above the turtles heads.

Finally I finished off the card by sticking the blended mat layer onto a 10cm x 14.3cm Basic Black mat layer and then sticking onto a Basic White Thick card base.

As you can see even by using the same stamp set and inks you get a different background each time.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my Turtle Card’s for this month’s theme of Brilliant Blending and please do have a go away and have a go yourself as you can end up with some lovely effects just by blending.
