The challenge this week at Craft Your Passion is to make a DIAMOND FOLD CARD.This style of card is so much fun and they are actually quite easy to make – well, they’ve got to be if I can make one!As with any folding technique it’s just a case of being as accurate as you can and creating sharp creases. It also folds flat to a 4″ x 4″ square so it fits in an envelope beautifully.
In case you are unfamiliar with these or you’ve never thought you could attempt one I prepared a tutorial for our DT and any challenge entrants to follow :
There, you have no excuse not to now!!
If you’re not sure about any of the steps feel free to ask me a question and I’ll do my best to answer it.
Of,course this is just one type. There are others,so if you know any feel free to enter those too.BUT it must be a FOLD not just diamond shaped pieces of card on a regular card base.
For details on how to win some fabulous digi stamps and how to play along please click on the link to the challenge site. Please take the time to have a look at the DT and GDT’s amazing creations too.You could also become a GDT too.Just click on the link under the Followers.
My card base is created from a sheet of cardstock from the DCWV Old World stack .I coveted this for a long while and was lucky enough to find it half price. That was almost a year ago and I can’t bear to use it!!I’m so glad I did for this tho’.It compliments this sweet Choupintette Swing image from CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps perfectly.I used a square topper but you could mat and layer diamond pieces.I chose not to because I’m rubbish at cutting the angles right!!There,my secret is out – it wasn’t some kind of clever design plan after all.
Supplies : Image : Choupinette Swing from CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps Mediums : Promarkers ,Bundle Sage Distress Ink (applied with a piece cut from the non green side of a pan scouring sponge to give a textured finish) Cardstock : Patterned base DCWV 12 x 12 Old World stack,Pale blue Papermania A4 Capsule Textured Colossal pack Tools : X-Cut guillotine,X-Cut metal ruler,Woodware bone folder,A3 cutting mat, pencil and eraser Embellishments : Length of white satin ribbon coloured with Promarkers to match,Gems from the Crafts Too Cool Series Acrylic Stones Gem Wheel Some challenges this card is entered for : Challenge Up Your Life : Blue & Green Cute Card Thursday : Anything Goes Digital Tuesday : Use your “never used stash” (Old World stack) Dutch Dare : Clean & Simple Fairy Tale Challenge : Everything Goes Inktegrity : Ribbons & Flowers Little Red Wagon : Do it in 3’s (Gems) Moving Along With The Times : Nice & Bright Stamp Something : November Digi Day Stampotique : Girly Girl Wee Memories : Dust off that patterned paper The Pixie Cottage : Two colours only (optional sketch) Pattie’s Creations : Create a Birthday card Paper Sundaes : Pick at least two from the Sundae Toppings Bar (blue & ribbon) OSAAT : Your Fave Colour (mine’s more of a combo.Just love blue & green tho’ they never should be seen!I’m like that – he,he!) Top Tip Tuesday : Use an image/sentiment ** My Top Tip is actually contained in my Diamond Fold Card Tutorial. When creating a fold without using a score board place a metal ruler where you want it to be,use the grid on your cutting mat to make sure everything’s straight, then fold the card in towards the edge of the ruler. To make a really sharp crease use a bone folder, checking that all edges are lined up first. This should give you perfect results every time.**TFL
