Their First Bath

17 Jul

The goslings are really getting big.  I promise, I do put clean water in the pools every day, but it doesn’t take long to look dirty.

Note that there is plenty of parent supervision here.

There’s also a couple of jealous ones that haven’t quite figured out how to get in there yet.

If goslings told fish tales:  “I tell you it was this big.”

“Oh yeah.  Well mine was this big.”

It seems like just yesterday that they were tiny little fuzzy fluffballs.

they are cute! i believe you on the water – even the dog’s pool gets filthy looking within a day or two and they’re not even in it!

    • Teresa July 17, 2012 at 3:12 pm #

It’s so hot, it has that green algae on the sides that makes the water look dirty. You just can’t keep them clean in weather like this.

Squeeee! Even with feathers I love ’em! 🙂

    • Teresa July 17, 2012 at 3:23 pm #

These geese are pretty mellow. They aren’t the mean kind. 🙂

They are so cute. When they grow up geese can be mean, it seems!

    • Teresa July 17, 2012 at 3:59 pm #

Some can be mean, but the Chinese and African (which these are) seem to be pretty mild mannered. 🙂

So darn sweet. My heart went out to the little ones looking in. Enjoyed your narrative on the fish story. Too cute!

    • Teresa July 17, 2012 at 7:50 pm #

They really don’t think it’s fair that they can’t get in yet, but if they can’t get in, they can’t get out.

oh my goodness they are just too cute! They make me want to come play! 🙂

I can’t believe how quickly they grow up and lose their baby looks and voices.

They are so cute and LOVE the color. Will they stay that color like the mother?

    • Teresa July 17, 2012 at 8:06 pm #

The yellow ones will be white and the darker ones will stay the darker colors. They are African and Chinese.

The do grow extremely fast — but yours are still in that cute stage. 🙂

    • Teresa July 18, 2012 at 8:31 am #

It’s so hot they haven’t really started getting feathers yet~they don’t need them. 🙂 They are getting tall though.

This post made me smile. BIG 🙂 Not much cuter than li’l goslings.. especially taking their first bath! Goose water is *never* clean, even five minutes after cleaning/refilling! I think my goose couple has a purely platonic relationship (Greta is an old lady.. don’t know if that’s the reason). But, I sure miss babies! Thanks for sharing yours ♥

    • Teresa July 18, 2012 at 8:58 am #

It was just cleaned really. There’s so much green stuff stuck to the sides, but it’s so hot I can’t keep it off. Poor kids, but they really look like they don’t mind. You can’t hardly find those two out of the pool anymore.

Love goslings. We only see the wild ones here and the parents keep you at a distance. They make great parents and will protect the babies of other geese if they need to. Geese have a wonderful culture they live by. Thanks for the darling pictures …

They really do live the theory that it takes a whole gaggle to raise a gosling! 🙂

My goodness! They are so cute! I love your captions, too 🙂

Really, they are adorable. I just wish they would stay so small and cute!

  21. Laurie July 19, 2012 at 2:35 pm #

How wonderful! I’ve raised laying hens and for years I did wild duck rehab, raising hundreds of ducklings. It was fun to see your goslings in their pool – brought back memories of the messy fun!

    • Teresa July 19, 2012 at 3:36 pm #

It really is a joy to watch the little ones playing in the water!

Oh I know about that dirty water thing first hand too! I have 4 ducks and am completely amazed with how quickly they can make a perfectly clean pool dirty. They’ve got it down to a science, really.

    • Teresa July 23, 2012 at 9:44 pm #

They do, and the geese are worse. But I do love them~so much fun to watch.
