Monthly Baby Photos

I always knew I wanted to take a series of photos of my children their first year, to document their growth…  babies change so fast, I figured it would be a fun way to remember this stage of their lives.

We got pregnant with Connor, and I started making plans for his monthly photo shoots.  But, those plans were derailed when he decided to arrive a little too early!  Because he would spend the first several months of his life in the NICU, I had to get extra creative – so, the Monkey Series was born!  Using a stuffed monkey that we could take with us to the hospital (which was nearly as big as he was in the beginning), I attempted to capture his rapid growth during his first 12 months:

The Monkey Series

When my sister was pregnant with her youngest, Ally, I thought it would be fun to make her a series of monthly stickers as one of her baby gifts.  These stickers could be affixed right to Ally’s onesie each month, for her monthly photo shoot.  I’ll cut my sister a little slack, since her two girls are only 18 months apart and she often has her hands full, but this is all what she’s captured so far during Ally’s first 10 months:

Ally's First Year

I thought I’d offer these up as another free printable.  These stickers are nothing fancy, but they’re an easy and cute way to “label” each monthly photo… especially if you’re not handy with photo editing software, or you simply want to give them to someone as a gift.  I used full-sheet labels, and each set of stickers will only require 3 sheets.

Your baby is so adorable and I love those stickers. My son is 5 months (today!) so I feel a little late using them. But, like you, I did start (late-at 2 months) taking his picture with a stuffed giraffe. The pics are so cute. -found you at My Backyard Eden:)

Very Cute idea! I might have to fudge the month 1 & 2 in Photoshop since I've been taking my 2nd's picture in a white onesie every month but I'll use the rest of them! I'll probably also make a set for my sister who is due in Sept.! Thanks so much for sharing! I came over from Somewhat Simple's Strut Your Stuff!

Very cute! I wonder if my oldest would pose for a picture with one that says, "228 Months Old"?

This is such a great idea! I tried to take a picture each month with a teddy bear for my four girls. Now I look at some of them and think, "Was that 3 months or 4 months???" No mistaking this one! I wish I wasn't done having kids now.

That really is a great idea. My sis just had a baby so I'll share with her.

I was just thinking the other day that it would be cool to take a photo of your child every month until they leave the nest. Wouldn't it be cool to look back on all of them after 18 years?

This such a neat idea. I love it and wish I did it sooner. I guess now I can take old pictures and put them together now.

Visiting from The Girl Creative. Love this idea. Wish I had this for when my daughter was first born. But I did something similar as you with the monkey, except ours is Benny the Bunny. Kids grow so fast and it's great we can capture their growth. Thanks for sharing the stickers. Now I'm off to print them as gifts

What a FABULOUS idea! I could have used this desperately with my kiddos! I am so bad about getting their pictures scrapbooked, so this would of helped out! Thanks for linking up to Hoo's got talent!

Great idea! I always used a sign that I made and would set next to the twins. But for months 9-12, they fought over who got to hold and eat the sign!

What a cute idea. Handy for when you look back years from now and don't know when the pictures were taken!

I love this idea! So helpful! My friend just had twins and we were talking about monthly photo shoots. This will be great!

Would you mind if I shared this on my blog in a month or so? I'd give you credit, of course! I think others would love this, too

Really cute. I did this with both of my girls. I put them on the exact same sheet every time in a plain white Onesie and printed a giant number for the month to lay down next to them on the sheet. I love having this timeline of pictures to document their first year. They change so much from month to month!

What a fun idea, I did a weekly picture with my daughter the first year but it would've been nice to highlight the months with these! Fun idea and simple enough so the nonsewers can do it too!

Kat @ Black Kats Design said...

Thank you! I've seen this idea on Etsy for big $$ to have them screen printed. I was trying to think of a cheaper DIY method. I never thought of stickers! You've saved me so much time and money. I can now give them as a gift to my brother and sister-in-law who are expecting in May.
