#DOswts386 Challenge

Twice monthly the DOstamperSTARS demonstrator group has a blog hop. In addition to the blog hop, STAR leader, Dawn Olchefski, often hosts monthly Creative Challenges. For April the Creative Challenge is a game called ConnectTen. The game consists of 25 squares on a grid and to complete the challenge each person has to create cards using 10 of suggestions in the squares and the 10 squares have to connect. It’s super fun and really helps to get the creative juices flowing.

Today’s Challenge is a layout sketch.

The sketch is a starting point. Sometimes, I copy it exactly, other times I put a twist on it.

This card uses the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set and matching Love You More Than Dies. As a coffee and chocolate themed card, I chose to stick with neutral colors; Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Basic White, and Very Vanilla. The Frayed Ribbon is about 6″ long and is wrapped around the Early Espresso piece and adhered on the back with Stampin’ Seal Plus.

The words in the background are stamped with VersaMark ink. I often forget that VersaMark ink is great for other things besides embossing powder!

When Stamping with just a few colors of ink, remember that by stamping off (ink the stamp and then stamp on a scrap before stamping on the cardstock) you can achieve more variety of shades in your colors.

I often like to place 3 gems together for a little extra touch and the Rustic Metallic Dots are quickly becoming my go to favorites.

Paper Dimensions:

  • Crumb Cake Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
  • Early Espresso 2″ x 5 1/4″
  • Very Vanilla 3 squares 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
  • Basic White scraps for stamping images
  • Very Vanilla 3 3/4″ x 5″ for inside (optional)

I hope that are inspired by my card and my fellow stampers cards. Have a great day!
