New In Colors floral card for Tech 4 Stampers blog hop

New In Colors just released in the new Annual Catalogue so this month’s Tech 4 Stampers blog hop was a color challenge. Also thrown into the mix was a floral theme so it stands to reason to combine the two. Thank you to the lovely Sara Sayers for setting the challenge.

The Tech 4 Stampers is a monthly subscription group run by Louise Sims. She mentors and enables members to understand IT jargon and equips them with a fountain of Technical knowledge to build or manage their own websites. It takes the mystery out of “tech” and I’ve certainly grown in confidence thanks to her expertise, patience and guidance. Not only that, I’ve met and made new friends with my fellow “Techs” and love the camaraderie within the group.

Two-step stamping

I made some “Thank you” cards for my customers to send with their catalogues and it happened to fit the brief for the Tech 4 Stampers blog hop challenge this month! Whoop! Whoop! I love it when you can kill two birds with one stone! So I thought I’d use the Hand-penned Petals Bundle because it is a two-step stamping set. First you stamp the linear floral image. Second, you stamp the colour.

Stamparatus – Stamp positioning tool

The Stamparatus is indispensible especially when you’re making several cards with the same design. I created a template with the first stamped image and die cut several “blanks” which I could insert into my template and repeat stamp to my heart’s content. In the photo, I’ve shown the five colour ways for stamping the word “Thanks”.

Having this handy tool also means you can cut down on the time you spend getting the stamps in the right position to add colour. You only need to set up the stamps initially and can repeat stamp the rest of your cards in the same position without having to do it free hand each time.

Substituting Tuxedo Black Memento Ink

Instead of using Tuxedo black memento ink to stamp the floral outline , I used Evening Evergreen. It’s not always essential to use Tuxedo Black Memento ink especially if no alcohol markers are involved.

With the help of the Stamparatus, the largest flower was stamped in Polished Pink, medium ones in Fresh Freesia and the smallest ones in Pale Papaya. I used acrylic blocks for the leaves for more freedom of movement and stamped them in Soft Succulent.

Showcasing 2021-2023 In Colour Card stock

I really wanted to show my customers the actual colours of the card stock so I incorporated it into the design. An extra card front, the same size as the card base, was die cut with one of the Basic Border dies to give this pierced effect. Below it, I adhered strips of In-Color card stock in a diagonal pattern.
