Scrapbooking Global March 2020 Blog Hop - Black & White Photo

Welcome lovelies to Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop. Each month (on the third Thursday) a talented group of scrapbookers get together from all over the world to create and share their beautiful designs with you!

This month's theme is a Black & White Photo by the talented Mai.

I really like to use black and white photos a lot in my scrapbooking because it creates a neutral focus point and you can apply any colour you wish to the page, also, it brings out the details of the subject you have photographed.

I'm Sharni from Australia, you may have started here or just come from the talented... Delys.

The lovely ladies below are the Design Team members inspiring you monthly with exciting scrapbook layouts!

For those who know me, you will know who this beautiful creature is instantly! It's my Charlie Girl! We were at Miss Perez Cafe having dinner outside on the verandah. Charlie was very excited and quite happy to 'keep watch' while we enjoyed our meal.

I used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste (coloured with Coastal Cabana & Blushing Bride) and one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks ( the Bricks) as the main background effect.

The Shimmery White Embossing Paste is fabulous! I didn't need very much ink from my re inkers - it does dry quickly, so you can't spend too much time mixing etc and remember to wipe/wash all surfaces including the mask & spatula straight after application.

Here you may see all the little sparkles from the Shimmery White Embossing Paste.

The flowers are from the Poppy Moments Dies. The top layer was cut out from Blushing Bride Cardstock and the base was cut from Shimmery White Cardstock that I had coloured with Coastal Cabana Pigment Sprinkles.

I have shown this technique a few times before, it's fun and easy and you can actually get it done quite quickly if you dry the paper with your heat gun. Simply spray or wet down the Shimmery Paper (or waterpaper) then wet some Pigment crystals with your Aqua Painter, and apply to the wet paper. I always go lightly, then add more colour if I wish.

It will dry lighter than it appears when it's wet.

Here's Charlie's beautiful face! Here she is snuggled up on her chair in the craft room with me.

The black speckles you may see are from a black reinker I flicked over the pages with my Aqua Painter. (make sure you READ which black ink you use....don't use the StazOn...hmmmm, its doesn't clean off very well from your brush OR your pink work mat! Actually, I had to throw my brush away.) Lesson learnt. lol.

I used the Well Written Dies for the Black cut out words. The black and white scrappy bits of tissue paper with the fonts on it that you may see about (mainly sitting underneath the flowers) is actually quick release paper that I used when I cut out the poppies, it helps get the cardstock out of the dies. This paper oftens comes decorated with all sorts of interesting patterns, French script etc. So instead of throwing it away, I decided to use it as decoration.

The photos were matted with Pool Party Cardstock.

Not the best photo, but before adding the photos etc, I spritzed the two pages with some Coastal Cabana Pigment Sprinkles that were mixed with water. (I had already had this made up..next time I will use an alcohol based solution because the 12x12" cardstock is not waterpaper quality and gets too wet.

And that my dears, is the end of my Black & White Photo themed scrapbook blog!

Thank you for spending some time with me today I hope you enjoy viewing my work and have gained some ideas and inspirations.
