Simple silouettes

Welcome to my blog. Today, as part of Kylie Bertucci's training program, I am excited to be hopping with fellow demonstrators from around the world. There is no themefor this hop, but there is sure to be plenty of inspiration along the way.

The seed for my simple card today began from one of those moments when you are gazing in to space, deep in thought (yo could read that as day dreaming!), and suddenly when you are brought back to earth an idea pops into your head. You know the kind of moment I mean don't you?

The first thing I saw when I came to was a box of tissues - very ordinary, but I liked the colours and the pattern on the box. There was an idea for a card - I could see lots of dandelion clocks and the colours were Very Vanilla and Blueberry Bushel. I needed to use the Silouette Scenes bundle!

I die cut several of the dandelion flowers from Blueberry Bushel card and placed them on top of a Very Vanilla layer and moved them around until I was happy with the spacing - some of them were upside down so that the curved stems looked better. Five seemed like a good number. Then I stamped the leaf image to fill in the gaps. The leaves come from the wonderful Painted Harvest set and I used Blueberry Bushel ink. I love how they are mottled and patchy. After gluing down the dandelions I embossed the layer using the Subtle embossing folder. The folder works its magic and the flower heads become embossed within the pattern.

The Silouette Scenes set has several lovely sentiments, but the Keep Dreaming one seemed most appropriate for my card today! I stamped it on a strip of Very Vanilla and mounted it on a slightly wider piece of Blueberry Bushel card. To finish I used some linen thread to wrap around the layers and to tie a dainty bow. I couldn't resist using the Designer Elements for the centres of the flowers or adding a squirt or two of my Wink of Stella spray. I have glimmer and sparkle ready to go wheneer I need it by mixing alcohol and Wink of Stella in a spray bottle.

Do you remember blowing the dandelion clock seeds to the wind and making wishes? This is what this card reminds me of. Thank you for visiting my blog today - you are currently visiting Karen Henderson. Please visit the other blogs on the list too. I am sure you will find lots of ideas and inspiration on your journey around the hop. Make sure you don't miss any!

  6. Great card Karen. I love taking inspiration from the everyday things around us. I love the simple blue and white theme (though I realise you used Vanilla). It reminds of the Willow dinner set my Mum used to have, which my Aunty has inherited. Gorgeous.

    1. The everyday things are so often overlooked, almost like they aren't seen fully. They offer so much inspiration though!
