My Dishes Go Christmas

The Global Design Project has a new challenge - CASE (copy and selectively edit) the Designer. Here is the card I made for this challenge.

This week we are CASEing a beautiful card by Krista Frattin. Here is her card.

I love the Rooted in Nature stamp set, and wanted to use the same tree that Krista used, but I decided I wanted to emboss it, and make a Christmas card. I chose gold embossing powder on Merry Merlot card stock as I love the rich, regal look of Merry Merlot for Christmas. My last blog post used Merry Merlot along with Very Vanilla and I liked that look so decided to use it again for this card. If you missed that post, you can see it here. I embossed my greeting in gold again, and cut it in a banner for my card. I wanted to add a little more to the sentiment, so I used a 1/2 inch strip of Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper has gorgeous Copper foil accents, but there are not too many in my 1/2 inch strip, so I felt it still worked with the gold embossing. The DSP strip has white, not very vanilla in it, so to coordinate, I decided to mount my card on a Whisper White Thick card base. Combining Whisper White and Very Vanilla is not my idea, I stole it from my good china! When I was looking for good china years ago, the sales lady said she had a lovely set that had white, cream and burgandy in it. (Obviously not a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator or she would have told me the colours were Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Merry Merlot!!!) In any case, I didn’t think I would like something that combined white and cream, but let her show me.

This is one of the plates from my good china.

Well, never judge an idea until you see it!! When she put out the place setting, it was stunning, and my choice for good china was easy.
I have wanted to make a card with these colours for a while, but had trouble pulling it all together. Today I think I made it work. What do you think?
