In last month’s tablescape blog hop, I shared a Fall on the Farm Rooster Table. Today’s post is in response to requests to see more of my everyday rooster kitchen decor and tableware.

As I explained previously, I fell in love with the black Tuscany rooster while on an Italian vacation. It was after that trip, that I decided to accent the kitchen with black in the rugs, window valances and decor elements. It was perfect timing, because we had recently gutted our builder-grade kitchen and three bathrooms.

I can hardly believe my ‘new’ kitchen is now nearly 15 years old! Now, it has neutral tan birch cabinets, tile floor, stainless steel appliances, and grey in the wrap around counters and chandelier. The tile backsplash is a matte cream, with fruit and vegetable relief accents. Check out the three-part Remodeled Kitchen Design & Layout Tour for pictures and details.

Today, I’m sharing more of my kitchen decor and tableware, during the times when it’s not set with seasonal or holiday decorations.

Transitional Table Setting

September is a great time of year for setting the kitchen table with my rooster and farmyard theme dishes, glasses and linens.

They also work well with my bee collection of tableware.

Have a Seat at the Bar

Dishes and placemats on the nine-foot island compliment the tablescape on the nearby kitchen table.

You might recognize the wreath in the background from Bee Wreath and Skep Bee-autiful DIY Inspiration, Party Decorations.

It’s not rooster kitchen decor, but the black, cream and yellow accents generally work well anytime between May and September.

I typically set the counter for breakfast. On the kitchen island’s gas cooktop, are my covered rooster and pig stoneware casseroles. During the summer, I use the lidded rooster to serve potato salad, and the pig for baked beans — buffet style.

Hmm, I see Sweet Scottie Dog, Fibber, decided to take a nap in an atypical spot to photobomb my picture below. A black brindle, Scottish Highland Terrier, even he blends in with all the black in my home decor, LOL!

There are three pewter-color stools at the bar. The gold fleur-de-lis on each, is a nod to the ancient symbol for bee and my French ancestry.

Remodeled Kitchen Design & Layout Tour, Part 3 focuses on the features of the center island.

Place Settings Deconstructed

Underlying the breakfast place settings are vinyl, wipeable rooster placemats. With heavy use and occasional coffee drips, the placements are also very practical.

I think the reversible placemats prints go perfectly with the color scheme of my kitchen rooster decor. What do you think?

Some of the dishes, and rooster kitchen decor accents, are also seen in the Fall on the Farm Rooster Table. That includes the black-rimmed luncheon plates, yellow coffee mugs, egg cups, faux speckled eggs, miniature vases and cloth napkins. It’s always preferable to have seven or eight of each, so that I can set both the table and bar at the same time.

What’s new, is the napkin rings, amber juice glasses (Goodwill) and fruit bowls (William Sonoma). The 2008, Italian-made bowls have four different rooster images.

Unfortunately, the bowls were one of those ‘one and done’ patterns. Because of that, I only have one set found at the William Sonoma outlet in Northern Virginia. Always a dangerous stop when I go there with my sister-in-law, LOL! Her beautiful kitchen also is accented with rooster decor and tableware.

Here’s the tablecloth that coordinates with the dishes and my kitchen decor.

Rooster Kitchen Decor Vignette

On the wraparound countertop, are a couple of places where I typically set up rooster kitchen decor vignettes. This one features the round platter and bowls from the William & Sonoma collection.

Unfortunately, I only have two of the larger bowls. They are stacked in the vignette for easy access.

I’ve moved the bowls and other rooster kitchen decor out of the way, so you can get a better look at the round platter.

It’s like William Sonoma made this dish pattern just to coordinate with my kitchen!

Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen?

Did you notice the two Byer’s Choice Carolers in the kitchen vignette?

Both are actually from Christmas collections, but I use them in my neutral kitchen. If you look closely, the copper mold has a snowflake image on it. Can you see it?

The other chef is from Twelve Days of Christmas — he represents “three French hens”. How about those black and white checked pants? I had to have him for everyday.

Another neutral kitchen vignette includes the Byers Choice butcher and baker from the old English poem. It’s featured in, Kitchen Design & Layout Tour, Part 3.

If you follow Debbee’s Buzz, you’ve also seen me use other carolers in tablescape centerpieces, including; Cornucopia Thanksgiving, Presidents Day, and Give Me Liberty Blue Celebrates July 4th.

Kitchen Vignette Options

During the spring, I change up the countertop area with another rooster kitchen decor vignette. This one uses a large Williams Sonoma cabbage leaf platter and placemat (also seen in Easter Hunt in Mr. McGregor’s Garden).

You saw the rooster covered casserole and trio of creamers incorporated into the centerpiece of Fall on the Farm Rooster Table.

A third countertop area where I frequently create a vignette, is around this rooster-topped canister. A square sunflower platter, decorated with bee and Eiffel Tower, also ties-in with my name and ancestry.

Always the Queen of Theme in my decorating and entertaining! It’s like a I just can’t bee stopped, LOL!.

Roosters on the Loose?

There are a few other spots where you’ll find more rooster kitchen decor or motifs. One of my favorites is the needlepoint rug under the kitchen table. It was a splurge from Horchow years ago.

A major perk of a black rug is how well it hides stains. I also like how it coordinates with the color of the stripes in the chair.

rooster-kitchen-decor-pillow

Sitting on an extra chair in the corner, is a needlepoint rooster pillow. When needed, I pull that chair up to the table, which can just fit five.

rooster-kitchen-decor-tin

Nearby, in the family room, is a French baker’s rack. That’s where you’ll frequently find this oversize rooster tin on the bottom shelf.

I use the tin to hold paper plates, napkins, and straws for entertaining — like these rooster appetizer plates.

Wall Perches

I actually have very little wall space in my kitchen after the remodel. Most of it is taken up by floor to ceiling cabinetry, tile backsplash, appliances, or doors and windows.

rooster-kitchen-decor-clock

That’s why this wooden, rooster clock is hung on the side of the large pantry. At the time, it took some soul searching and convincing to get my husband to drill a hole in our custom cabinetry.

A wooden rooster (gift from my parents) hangs along the opening to the family room — adjacent to the baker’s rack. What little wall I have is professionally hand-painted in a faux finish that includes a touch of metallic pewter.

Rooster on the Loose!

One last rooster (for now!) populates my herb garden. He was a birthday gift from my sons.

kitchen-rooster-statue-herb-garden

Made of cement, the rooster is extremely heavy. Poor hubby has to lug the statue in and out every spring and fall. Our Pittsburgh weather would mean the rooster wouldn’t fare well over the winter.

The herb garden is where the greenery in both the centerpiece and island place settings came from. I love the subtle, fresh scent they add to the rooster kitchen decor.

Fall to Come Soon?

Coming up in the kitchen will bee a Not-So-Scary Home Tour, Favorite Fall Decor Shopping and Spooky Halloween Tablescape. I hope you’ll follow along.

I planted mums over the weekend, but yesterday hit 85 and today’s forecast is for more of the same. So, I’m holding off purchasing and putting out pumpkins and gourds until it cools down a bit. How about you?
