MFT's Summer School Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of MFT's Summer School! I hope that you all had a wonderful day yesterday! Today I wanted to share with you the card I made for the complementary colors session of summer school. For my colors, I chose to use purple and yellow.

To start my card, I cut a white panel to 4" by 5 1/4" to use as the background. I stamped the most solid layer of two different butterflies with yellow ink in a diagonal line pattern. I used the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. I completely covered the whole panel. When necessary I allowed the images to stamp off of the paper.  I used the MISTI tool to help me stamp these images.

After the base layer of the butterflies had been stamped, it was time to add an additional layer to them. Most of the stamps in this set have three layers that you can use, but today I only used two for each of the butterflies. I stamped this layer with a purple ink. I used the MISTI to help me get the images lined up correctly.

After all the top layers had been stamped, I stamped an additional butterfly on another piece of white cardstock using the same yellow and purple inks that were on the background. I then used the coordinating die from the Beautiful Butterflies Die-namics set to cut it out. I knew that I was going to foam mount this butterfly on top of the butterfly in the bottom right of the card, but I wanted it to have more definition to it. I decided to stamp the top-most layer onto some vellum using the same purple ink and then cut it with it's coordinating die. I heat set this ink to make sure that it would not smear on the vellum. Once I was sure it was completely dry, I adhered it to the other die cut butterfly. I only added glue on the butterfly's body so that I could roll the wings of the butterfly a bit to create some movement on the card.

Before I foam mount this butterfly, I attached the white background panel to a piece of black cardstock cut to 4 1/4" by 5 1/2". Next, I attached both pieces to a white top folding A2 card base. I then put this panel into the MISTI and stamped a sentiment from the You Give Me Butterflies stamp set using Versa Fine Onyx Black ink.  After the sentiment had completely set, I added the vellum covered butterfly die cut using some double sided foam adhesive. Now my card was completely finished.

I hope that you enjoyed my card contribution today. If you have any questions or comments please leave them below.
