Eli Maor is an expert repurposer.  From toilet paper rolls to celery stalks, she can turn anything into a piece of art!  Her book The Craft Kingdom provides full-color photos of brilliant crafts that will have you saying, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”

Part of the reason God put me in the middle school classroom is that I’m not a very crafty person.  Those who teach early grades must have some level of fondness for bulletin boards and activity centers.  One of my sweet friends, a preK teacher, can turn a box of magazines into an entire week’s worth of fun learning experiences.   I think she and Eli would be BFF’s in real life.

In my own life, though, any crafts I create tend to come from a Hobby Lobby pre-packaged kit. What I love about The Craft Kingdom is that Maor emphasizes the use of items you already have in the house.  As I perused the book, there were very few items I would need to purchase.  The crafts breathe new life into tired items such as erasers and plastic bottles.  Tiny treasures — pebbles from a nature walk — become magnets.  These small ideas turn into big inspiration!

The Craft Kingdom helped me see everyday items in a whole new light.  We live in a small house, and I don’t have room to store all the “stuff” we’d normally toss, but I can be more aware of the items that could become something new.  Check out the Craft Kingdom blog and YouTube channel for more ideas!

One lucky reader will win a copy of The Craft Kingdom! The giveaway is open to US readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law.  Good luck!
