Global Design Project Challenge - Case the Designer

Wow it is hot here in Ontario, Canada this weekend so I decided to sneak away to my scrap room and play a little.  What better way to play than to work on a challenge?  The Global Design Project Blog has a fun challenge going on right now to case the designer - Charlet Mallett

This design really spoke to me - I loved the combination of designer papers layered with the stamped image and knew immediately what I wanted to do for this challenge.  It was a great one to break out my Sea of Textures set and play away.  Here is what I came up with:

Card Instructions:

For this card I started with a Soft Sea Foam card base and layered a piece of the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper on the left hand side. On the right side of the card I stamped one of the background stamps from the Sea of Textures set in Soft Sea Foam across the whole base of the card.  I took another piece of designer series paper and cut it into a banner shape and adhered it to the centre of my card.

I pulled out some vellum and cut it out with the Stitched Label Framelits and adhered it to the centre of my card with some looped silver metallic thread behind it.

Next was some play with the big shot - I cut out a variety of the sea coral pieces with my different cardstock colours.  I was able to run all the pieces through the big shot at the same time.  I added Wink of Stella to the sand dollars and then adhered all the pieces to the card.

Placed some sequins and pearls to create a sea floor base and added some around the coral pieces.

I stamped my sentiment in Tranquil Tide on a strip of Crumb Cake and flagged the end. I took a small piece of the Crumb Cake bakers twine and made it into a loop and adhered it to the card.  Afterwards I unraveled the ends of the twine and placed my sentiment on the card using dimentionals.  The Thank You is from the Hanging Garden stamp set.

Lastly, I took my Wink of Stella and flicked speckles all over the card so that it shined. - Wink of Stella is soooooo my favorite colouring tool lol

I love this bundle!!! and had so much fun playing along with this challenge.  I love participating in challenges and checking out what the designers come up with each week.  I encourage you to check them out and play along.
