The Murder on the Links (Hercule Poirot, #2)
by
by
Poirot receives a message from France that spurs him into action. But his arrival on scene is too late – the man who summoned him for help, Monsieur Paul Renauld, is now dead. And so the intrigue begins.
Some various thoughts I had while reading The Murder on the Links...
Hastings is back. (I'm still very new to Agatha Christie, so I wasn't sure if Hastings would be accompanying Poirot again or not.) He continues to stand in as a Watson to Poirot's Holmes.
The plot is very layered. I kept thinking to myself “Ah! Surely they're cornering the murderer now” – but there was to be another twist, and alas, it was not the murderer.
I love when “Papa Poirot” (as he names himself) speaks of “the little gray cells” – which is, in fact, quite often.
Caution to the discerning reader: There are frequent mentions as to whether or not a certain woman was the mistress of the murdered man.
