Happy Mail – In The Form of New Stamps!

Stampin’ Up! had some killer deals on for the start of October in honour of World Card Making Day, and I ordered a bunch of stuff which all arrived yesterday.

I bought a couple of new stamp sets – Oh So Eclectic and Colorful Seasons (and I know we Aussies spell Colourful with a ‘u’ – but the set originates in the USA….so when in Rome….). I also bought a heat tool so that I would be able to heat emboss things, something I have wanted to try for ages! I finished off the order with some fabulous DSP and some new ink pads. I sat tonight to try a few of the new things out and wow – I love everything!

The first card I made was for the Global Design Challenge #108. The challenge this week was CASEing the Designer Brian King, and this is what he created for us:
Brian_King_CASE_GDP108I challenged myself to use some new DSP, a new stamp set and also my heat tool, and this is what I came up with.

The DSP is called ‘Painted Autumn’ and is from the 2017 Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalogue. It is gorgeous. It does have some very Halloween-ey / pumpkin like prints which I am unlikely to use, however it is two sided so I’m certain I will make use of all this paper. The card base is whisper white but I sponged it with Peekaboo Peach as I thought the white was a bit stark. The coloured mats are in Lemon Lime Twist. The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons set and is stamped in Pumpkin Pie (one of my new ink colours). The leaf is also stamped in Pumpkin Pie, but I stamped off first so it isn’t as intense. I then stamped the outline over the top of the leaf in versamark and heat embossed it with gold powder. I am really happy with how it turned out.

The next two cards I created tonight were bright and colourful, and heavily featured one of the 2017-2019 In Colours – Berry Burst. This colour is so pretty, it and lemon lime twist are quickly becoming my favourites.

The one of the left is based on one I found on pinterest from the Stamp Doc. Sometimes with a new set I find I need some inspiration to get started and her card really stood out to me, I loved the bright colours. She has some really lovely creations on her blog so I suggest you pop over and have a look. My card features flowers (from the Oh So Eclectic set) stamped in Berry Burst, Peekaboo Peach and Lemon Lime Twist with the leaves and sentiment (from Colorful Seasons) in Emerald Envy. The DSP is from the coordinating pack Naturally Eclectic.

The card on the right features just the flower outline, heat embossed in white with Berry Burst sponged over the top. The small crosses and the sentiment are both in Berry Burst also. Again the sentiment comes from Colorful Seasons; this set is such a versatile set and I highly recommend it for someone starting out and looking to maybe only buy one set initially. It covers all the seasons and has some very generic sentiments that can be used for multiple occasions.

Thanks for stopping by, I’d love you to leave a comment and let me know what you think of tonights efforts.

  1. I love your card! The leaf is a perfect accent to accompany this paper – love how you’ve colored it. Thank you so much for playing along with my CASE the Designer challenge at GDP – I’m honored.
