(2017 c41) Water & Wings plus Tissue Stamping

The background for this Journal cover was watercolored on watercolor paper with cheap Crayola watercolors.  Then I stamped the images on tissue paper and colored with Copics markers. The cranes were gently covered on the backside with white paint (so that the water wouldn’t show through as much through the tissue when decopauged to the background)

I then carefully wet the images around the boarders so that I could tear out the image close to stamped lines.  Then I applied to background with Matte Medium by Claudine Helmuth.  I coated the entire page with 2 coats of Mod Podge to protect the journal cover.  Here is a link to one of my old tissue projects with pictures of the tissue process.

Stamps are from a discontinued Stamp company called Mark’s Finest Papers: The sea shells are from Mark’s Finest Papers Stamp Shop called Silly Shells.  The birds are from Birds  of the Orient. (The stamps might be found on web for sale by individuals)

This is so beautiful-I’d want to display the journal, not use it!

Wow, this is a real piece of art!! I wouldn’t even know where to start creating something like this. I love the shine of the decoupage medium, makes the water look even more real. Everything is so perfectly stamped too and the colours mixed for the sky are divine. Its an amazing cover and I’m so glad you shared it with us at Happy Little Stampers this month!!
