Handmade Cards

Birthday Party Animals

I have a riot of colour to share with you all today, with a child’s 2nd birthday card.

I love the MFT Big Balloon stencil for creating a background. By stencilling colour over each other, you can quickly cover a card with fun balloons. I added some distress detail with water too.

I chose three animals from the Mama Elephant Lunar Animals stamp set, colouring them with pencils and using the coordinating dies to cut them out

I die cut out an oval from the centre of the background piece, and added a green grassy hill behind it. Before adding them to a card base, I blended on some blue ink to show as sky through the oval window.

Next, I added the three animals, tucking a couple behind the grass a little. I gave them each a balloon to hold, adding a silver heat embossed ‘2’ to the middle balloon, before covering all three with lots of glossy accents.

I hope you enjoy this colourful card.

I’m entering this into the following competitions:

    1. Thank you!
I used distress inks for the balloon background. They overlap well, and shouldn’t go muddy unless you mix colours that are opposite on the colour wheel (yellow and purple for example)
