Mermazing birthday – emboss resist

Hello Again,

Just to continue with MFT Camp Create 2017, day 2 is all about Remarkable Resist. Heat embossing is one of my favourite techniques, so versatile and stunning results. I needed another birthday card for a little girl and I just couldn’t let the mermaid theme go.

Here is my card for Day 2:

I started with heat embossing in blue the MFT Whimsical waves background stamp on Bristol smooth cardstock. Then I applied blue/green shades of Distress inks with a sponge applicator. When it was done, I went back with a paintbrush and added more intensity of the same colours to the waves. I also used a Spectrum Noir shimmer pen to add sparkle to these lovely waves.

While I set it aside to dry a bit, I stamped and coloured another mermaid from the Mermazing stamp set. I used Copics/Shinhan markers and used the coordinating die to cut it out. I also die cut several times the “Make a wish” sentiment from white cardstock and mounted them on top of each other for more dimension.

When my background panel was dry, I used a stitched rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp to trim it down a little and adhered it on a white card base. I added the stamp and die cut pieces and embellished the card with some coordinating iridescent sequins from Studio Katia.

I will also link this project up on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Emboss it!

Until I am working on the Day 3 homework, I will bring you another nautical card, so stay tuned.

See you soon!
