Rose Wonder Stamp Set for Global Design Project GDP088

Today I am playing along with the Global Design Project, Case the Designer.  Shawn did an amazing job with his card and I was so happy to grab the same stamp set he used and put it to use!  Lets face it, I have a lot of stamps and sometimes I need a reminder to grab and play with some of my goodies.  That is why challenges are always a good tool, they do a lot of the work for you and you can easily add your creative edge and style to it!

Global Design Project Case the Designer Shawn Stamps GDP088 Rose Wonder Stamp Set and Rose Garden Thinlits Dies #stampinup #GDP088 #steshabloodhart

I decided to use the same Rose Wonder Stamp Set and Rose Garden Thinlits Dies as Shawn just change up the background a bit.  Remember that when you CASE a project you can Copy And Selectively Edit, make it your own!  I love to watercolor and wanted to show off some of the New 2017-2019 In-Colors.

I didn’t really start with a plan or measure for this card.  I just started creating the roses and then cut the watercolor paper background to fit the images I wanted to include on the card.  I do this often cause it makes my workflow easier, but I understand this is not always the case with everyone.  The rose can be snipped and adapted to your background, like the one in the upper left corner.

Card details:

  • Card Base is Basic Black Cardstock cut to 7.75 in x 9.5 in and scored / folded at 4.75 in.
  • The Watercolor Paper is cut to 4 in x 7 in with a Basic Black Cardstock mat of 4.25 in x 7.25 in,
  • The Mat and Watercolor Paper is adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up!
  • I stamped the Large Rose Image from the Rose Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Basic Black Archival Ink on watercolor paper and colored it with an Aqua Painter using the all New In-Colors of Tranquil Tide for the leaves and Lemon-Lime Twist and Berry Burst for the Rose. I ran the coordinating Rose Outline Thinlit (from the Rose Garden Thinlit Set) through the Big Shot with Basic Black Cardstock to create the bold outline. I glued it to the rose with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen (my Free Hoot Loot for the Month of May: See Details Here).  I cut out around the rose image with the Paper Snips and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Prior to adhering the large rose to the card base, I applied a bit of Berry Burst Ink with the Aqua Painter to create the watercolor wash look for behind the large rose.
  • I ran the Small Rose Thinlit (also from the Rose Garden Thinlits) through the Big Shot with Basic Black Cardstock and then glued it to the corner of the card (again using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen) and then snipped any excess of the edge with Paper Snips.
  • The two sentiments and the outline are all stamped using Basic Black Archival Ink.  The With Sympathy is cropped using the coordinating thinlit and adhered with Dimensionals.
  • I added three Glitter Enamel Shapes to finish the card.  These are available with the New 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog going live June 1st.
