#598 – Have A Beautiful Day

PE: Top at Lesia Zgharda Texture Challenge!

Lesia Zgharda - Top

Hello! I am steadily getting into the mixed media vibe now-a-days. I’ve been looking at quite a few videos, and loving it. Although most of these involve scrapbooking, it is relatively easy to incorporate the same techniques into card making too (duh) and am thinking trying out a few techniques I learnt like that here and there in my cards.

The card I am featuring today, has a small amount of mixed media. Although, the main focus when I made the card was the pretty texture in the background, I am a little afraid it is lost in the sentiment and the frame and flowers.

Actually, I had made the textured background quite some time ago, meaning to use it for another challenge, but never did. I used embossing paste, created a circled and swirly look. I added some watercolors on this. Then stamped it with the leaves from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony, then foam mounted the frames and flowers from Paper Smooches Scalloped Frames and Dainty Flowers. The sentiment from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony is stamped on acetate, layered with some green tone washi tape strips, strung together with an eyelet and a string (bow), and foam mounted.

I just love the swirly background, just wish I could have shown it off a bit more. But the card in itself looks fine, I guess. šŸ™‚

  1. Fine ?? Its Awesome ..the green swirly bg instantly grabs attention ..and loved the use of black outline stamp n die-cuts rather than solid ones.

  2. That’s a lot of challenges! That background is pretty! Pantone’s color this year is gorgeous, and definitely my cup of tea! I’m glad that picked a bright/fun color this year.

    • Somehow that many challenges clicked! I actually had one more, but couldn’t add it because of the rules. And I agree, that color is just too gorgeous!

  3. Don’t be afraid… the gorgeous texture you created was the first thing that jumped to my eyes when I saw your card, it’s just fabulous and so yummy! The pops of black are great to let your bg shine, LOVE it… and mixed media!!!

  4. ‘Fine’ is an understatement, it looks awesome. I have never used embossing paste for my cards, and the way you have used it makes me want to try this technique too. Love the fresh colors , great idea to keep the floral die cuts simple and black.
