Friend Like You

I’m very fortunate to have many wonderful friends in my life, including many I’ve met through our shared love of papercrafting. Today’s card to dedicated to all my wonderful friends, near and far.

For this card, I knew I wanted the bokeh paper and sentiment to be the stars of the show, so I kept everything else pretty simple on the card. The paper is part of the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) collection from Stampin’ Up. The photo really doesn’t do this paper justice. It’s absolutely gorgeous in person! Here are the colors and sizes of paper you will need for this card:

  • One piece of DSP cut to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8″
  • One piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut to 4 x 5-1/4″
  • One piece of Soft Sky card stock cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ which I scored at 5-1/2″ to create a top-folding card base

Before I adhered any of the layers together, I stamped my sentiment in the middle of the Very Vanilla piece of card stock using Soft Suede ink. The sentiment is from the Suite Sentiments stamp set. I then cut it out using the second largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set. Since I was planning to use the Very Vanilla as a mat for my DSP, this is a great way to save paper since no one will ever see where I cut the oval out of the mat.

To assemble the card, I adhered the DSP to the Very Vanilla mat. I wrapped a 6″ piece of 1/4″ Very Vanilla satin ribbon around the panel and adhered it on the back using some regular Scotch tape then adhered the panel to the card base using tape runner. I adhered the die cut sentiment center over the ribbon using some dimensional adhesive. To finish the card, a tied a small bow using the same ribbon and adhered it tucked in next to the oval using a glue dot.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:

One last thing …
