GDP L angled

Life happens during holidays; during the summer, at the beginning of a new year.  I have a friend whose mother passed away just after the new year started, and I wanted to make her a special card.

The colors for this card are the ones in this week’s Global Design Project Color Challenge.  I like them for this card because they’re not pastel or bright.  Even the silver in this combination looks a bit muted alongside the Delightful Dijon.

For today’s card I used the new So In Love stamp set for the pretty background flower.  To get the ombre look, I just rolled the stamp a bit as I pressed down.  I fully pressed down on one side of the stamp, but only lightly pressed on the other side. That created a color from dark to light across the edges of the flower.

The stamped panel is topped with a similar-sized sheet of Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate.  The acetate sheets come in several patterns and I used the polka dots.  Each sheet has the pattern in gold on the front and silver on the back, so I obviously used the silver side 🙂

The Challenge calls for my “free choice” for the third color and I decided to use white.  As this is a sympathy card, it seemed more appropriate not to make it too bright.
