My Thoughts:
I really like a good suspense book. This one intrigued me so I thought I would give it a shot. This was the first book I have read by this author. I am not sure why but this book took me forever to read. I thought it was good and kept reading however I think there was a lot of filler information that was distracting and gave me the feeling that I would never finish reading one chapter. I am a speed reader so this got frustrating to me. About halfway through the book, it seemed to pick up and really grab my attention. It still had some filler but it didn’t appear to bog the story down.
I thought the plot was good and the characters seemed to be real. I had to laugh at some of the banter that went back and forth between Jake and Terrell; it is typical banter of long-time friends. It was a good cat and mouse game and you never knew what the assassin was going to next. Was he going to get Jake or would he go after the next one on his list? You had the good cops and the bad cops which is typical in today’s world. This helped to create a real life experience.
I think if the book was edited and some of the filler tamed down that the book would definitely be worth 5 stars. It just needs to be cleaned up a little bit. As an avid reader, I will be watching this author and seeing how he grows in his writing. I do recommend the book to anyone that likes a good thriller set around crime.
