Altenew Autumn Leaves Cards

Hello, everyone! I’m back today with two different cards that I’m submitting to Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week’s challenge focus is on Autumn. I don’t really own many stamps or dies that are autumnal in natures so I went looking through my stash to see what I could find. I ended up choosing a selection of leaves from several different Altenew stamp sets and a variety of Distress Inks.

For the first card, I stamped  leaves all over a panel of white cardstock in different seasonal colours of Distress Inks. I used my MISTI to lay out the stamps so I could stamp multiple images at the same time. Before the ink dried, I added clear embossing powder and heat set it to punch up the colour factor a bit. I continued stamping and embossing until I had the whole panel covered. I trimmed the card down a bit and adhered to a piece of mustard yellow paper leaving a small border on two of the sides of the panel. Then I attached to an A2 card base using a strong scor tape. For the sentiment, I stamped out ‘Just for You’ from Altenew’s Label Love stamp set and adhered to the front of the card using foam tape.

The second card uses the same selection of leaf stamps, but this time I stamped them with Versamark Watermark Ink on watercolour cardstock in only one corner of the panel. I heat embossed them, again using a clear embossing powder. I took the same selection of Distress Inks and “smooshed” them (you like my technical term? lol) onto a piece of white cardstock that I’d laminated. I used a mini mister and spritzed the colours to get them watered down a bit. (See pictures above.) Then I took a piece excess laminated cut-off that was clear and put the plastic piece onto the smooshed colours (one colour at a time) to pick up the colour, then I placed the plastic onto the watercolour paper over where the leaves were heat embossed. Its hard to explain, so I’ll leave you the link to the video I watched by Kristina Werner that explains this technique visually. I found it easier to blot my smooshed colours with a bit of clean paper towel after each colour was on the cardstock the way I wanted it. I am new to mixing colours and didn’t want too much overlap between the colours just in case they got overly muddied. After I was happy with the coverage I used my powder tool, stamped my sentiment in Versamark, and heat embossed with a sparkly brown embossing powder. I trimmed down the panel and adhered it to a piece of deep red paper then attached to an A2 card base.

Stay tuned as I will be back with more using this smooshing technique. Its so fun, and easy to do! Bye for now!
