Hello Doggy

Hello DoggyIt’s funny how sometimes I can pour loads of time into a card and end up with something that’s just okay, and other times I quickly throw something together and love it. This falls into the second category. It is primarily a response to CASology‘s bark cue, combined with Mod Squad‘s challenge to put the sentiment in focus, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday‘s challenge to make a CAS card, and Addicted to Stamps and More‘s anything goes.

This really did come together very quickly indeed. I was thinking about the bark cue and had this simple idea which I immediately got started on. I used the dog from Paper Smooches’ Chubby Chums and one of the sentiments from Altenew’s Super Script, and stamped them using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.

Then I used my watercolour pencils to shade the dog. I kept him relatively simple as this isn’t a detailed scene by any means. I used two shades for his fur – a yellow-brown and a darker brown-brown, giving the dog a kind of caramel colour overall. I also used a touch of pink for his tongue, and some blue to add shape to his eyes. I used a regular paintbrush and some clean water to blend the colours.

In order to ground the dog I roughly but lightly shaded below him with a grey watercolour pencil, and a little black up closest to him, then drew that out with my brush and water to give the impression of ground and a shadow.

Hello Doggy 2It really was that simple! I am so pleased with it though. I can see remaking this using each of the different animals in the set.

Love,

Lady Joyful
