Art Journal #15 – Ancestry

When I got the Gothic Tim Holtz® stencil, it reminded me of the wall paper pattern common  during the Victorian era. Not giving it much thought, I painted the pages a lemon yellow using acrylic colors and stenciled the pattern using 3 shades of Distress inks in a random manner.

It looked pretty but I did not have a clue what to do next. I browsed for an appropriate quote that could be added to the layout and that’s when I stumbled upon this saying on ancestry. I think its right and decided to put it on my page!

Used Lawn Fawn’s Claire’s ABC stamp set to stamp the quote using Memento® Tuxedo ink. Went through some brochures I collected during my months in Europe and got these portraits of some known figures. Stuck them and drew the lines to make them appear as though they are hung on the wall.

Also added a brick like pattern at the bottom to make it look like the floor…something which I now think I could have avoided! 😛

Below is the final look.

Hardly any supplies were used on this layout except the acrylic paint, some matte medium, distress inks and cut-outs. So I guess, it comes under the category of ‘Clean and Simple’ which is why I am entering this for Simon says stamp Wednesday Challenge -Clean and Simple.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading how I came about creating this layout.

Bye for now! 🙂
