All-Occasion CAS Card

Jo AnnHello,

This Clean And Simple card (CAS) can be used for many occasions – birthday, anniversary, wedding, sympathy, thank you and so on.  I practiced a long time to get the right color combination for the layering.  First I tried teal with sea blue, mint and gold embossing….nah!  So I turned to lovely coral.  To say it simply…I will try…here I go!

The Flowers

  • 110# Neenah Solar White Cardstock – I wanted the thickness of the cardstock for dimension.
  • MISTI Stamping Tool
  • Hero Arts Color Layering For You Flowers Stamps
  • Simon Says Stamp Ink Pads – bottom solid layer (lightest color):  Rosie Cheeks;  middle layer:  Teeny Bikini;  top layer:  Apricot;  go around the outside edge:  Coral Reef;  bottom solid branch (lighter color) :  Willow;  top layer:  Fern    TIP:  If you go to Simon Says Stamp website, you can see the colors I used, then look for similar colors in your collection of ink pads.  LINK:  https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/search?currency=USD&q=sss+ink+pads

Background

  • 80# Neenah Solar White Cardstock – I didn’t want this layer to be too thick and add bulk.
  • Cuttlebug Die-Cut & Emboss Machine Provo Craft
  • Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames – TIP:  Put the frame through the die cutting machine before you put the embossing folder through it.  The design will be flattened if you emboss before cutting the frame.
  • Sizzix Embossing Folder – I’m sorry I don’t know the name of it.  I’ve had it for years before I started blogging.  Any embossing folder you like will do, if it covers the full page.

Card Base

  • 110# Neenah Solar White Cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/2 inches to make a top-folding card
  • Martha Stewart Scoring Board – Fold the cardstock in half.

Putting the Card Together

  • Scrapbook Adhesives E-Z Runner Tape – Adhere the background to the card base.
  • Glad Saran Wrap – Arrange the flowers on the card front the way you like them.  Lay a small piece of wrap over the flowers and press down.  The flowers will stick to the Saran Wrap as you carefully pick it up off the card.  Add Liquitex Matte Gel Medium, or your favorite card making glue, to the backs of the leaves and flowers.  Gently pick up the Saran Wrap again and lay the flower arrangement on the card front where you had it before adding glue.  Carefully lift the Saran Wrap from the arrangement, one flower at a time.
  • Press the flower arrangement down very well with your fingers.  Lay an acrylic block on top of the arrangement until it dries enough to have a good hold.

That’s it!  Clean and simple.  I asked my husband if it needed something more.  He knew I was making a sympathy card for a dear neighbor who lost her elderly sister.  He said, “No, the words will say the rest.”  So it is finished!  Like I said, I did spend quite a bit of time stamping over and over and over.  It’s that way with layering stamps, and they are my favorite kind of stamps!  If you didn’t spend the time figuring out the colors, as I did, you could make this beautiful card in a very short amount of time.  Have you made a card similar to this one?  Let me know.  Please Leave a COMMENT at the top of the page under the title.  Do you like what you see?  If so, please do press the LIKE BUTTON at the bottom of the page.  Thanks a bunch for giving my blog a try.  Come back again soon.  You’re always welcome!

Now on to making another card,

That’s me, Tricia Ann

P.S.  I took this photo outside and I love how the Neenah Solar White Cardstock photographed so white.  Yeah!

I’m so glad to see you’ve got a blog! I was having so much trouble with my Flikr account. It got mixed up with someone else’s account, so I didn’t go on there much any more. Anyway….your card is GORGEOUS! Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by to play along with us. It’s always such a blessing to have you play along.
    Blessings,
