Handmade Cards

Balloons on Kraft

I’ve been wanting to work with Kraft cardstock for a while, and finally got some A6 Kraft cards and white pigment ink. I decided to try the MFT Big Balloons stencil to do some shadow stamping.

I started by using white pigment ink to stencil four balloons across the card front. Layering colour over white on Kraft cardstock helps the colours to show more vibrantly.

Next I chose four colours of distress inks and used the stencil again to add the colour. I moved the stencil over a little to give a shadow effect where the distress ink doesn’t overlap with the white pigment ink. This is a fun effect to add more dimension to an otherwise flat stamped image.

I used a white gel pen to add highlight detail to the balloons, and a black fineliner pen for the strings.

I added a glitter sentiment, using the celebrate die from the Avery Elle Sentimentals die set, then stamped words from the coordinating stamp set underneath in black ink.

Finally, I finished the card by adding some sequins.

  1. This card is just amazing! I really thought the baloons were die cutted! The dimension you gave them by using the white background and moving stencil is just amazing. This is great that we can learn so much from each other. Thank you for sharing this beauty over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and celebrate with us the 6th Anniversary! Hugs, Marzena
