ABCs of Homeschooling – “P” is for…

ABCs of Homeschooling

Today is the letter “P” of the ABCs of Homeschooling with Dawn over at 5 Kids and a Dog.  When I sat down to post last night, I couldn’t think of a “P” word that I wanted to use.  I decided to sleep on it, and woke up with photography.  So, my “P” word is photography.

We take pictures to remember our adventures, but we also take pictures of our learning opportunities.  Both kids love to look at pictures to remember the things that they have done and seen.

We would love to share…

with you.

I’ll start with a request from my DS8.  He was watching as I was picking out the photos to use and requested that I put in a picture of Thomas the Tank Engine.

I’ll follow with a picture from our drive through St. Louis, MO with the Arch in the distance.  There is a history museum under the Arch, and an amazing physics lesson if you go up on a windy day.  You can feel the Arch move back and forth when it is windy.

We loved watching the horse below pressing the cane to get the juice to make Sorghum at the Arts and Crafts Festival (now called the National Harvest Festival) at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO.

A few years ago, we were fortunate to catch a performance of Doc Gizmo at Silver Dollar City.  Wow!  Talk about a love of science…

One time we picked several of the Queens Anne’s Lace flowers and colored them during our study of plant structure.

A few years ago, we lived in a good growing area and DD11 had a garden.  She entered some of her produce in the county fair and won a couple of ribbons.  She was so proud!

So…

do you use photography to document some of your learning projects and activities?

  2. Joelle says:

Oh yes, pictures, pictures, pictures. I think most homeschool homes take a lot of these. . .

We take a lot of pictures too to document what we do for homeschooling. We all enjoy going back on the pictures and looking at what we did and learned together. It’s a great way to feel connected as a family, and be able to look back and smile at the memories we share.

  4. My husband is an amateur photographer working on going pro, so we take a lot of pictures around here. I have a son who loves photography, so I’m hoping to find him a class to take in a year or two. He takes pictures of everything!
