Is Money Tight? Here’s 10 Ways to Stretch Your Budget
Today I'm sharing something really personal. Due to some recent changes at my husband’s work, our income has dropped and we’ve had to make some big changes to our family budget.
We’ve had to learn new ways to budget our money, and remember some old techniques we used when we worked really hard to get out of debt five years ago.
It’s not been fun, but it’s reminded us of what’s important and how faithful God is to always provide.
Is money tight for your family too? I want to encourage you by what we’re learning.
First we identified our family's biggest budget busters. For us, that's food! So in this post I wrote for For the Family, I shared 5 tips for meal planning on a budget, plus 5 other ways to stretch your budget.
I also included 9 encouraging scriptures when money is tight. Because let's face it, living on a budget isn't always easy!

Yes, Angela, so true! Wow… I can’t imagine having one’s income cut in half! That is definitely a shock to the budget! God is so faithful to always, always provide… and like you said, He is so good to even give us some of our “wants” along the way. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your testimony!
Yes! Money is very tight right now due to my husband’s career change. Our income was cut more than half – which definitely helps light a fire under you to budget as a family. Food is the most flexible area that we can reduce costs so we’ve cut out almost all eating out, we’re meal planning, and meal planning from the pantry towards the end of the month to make sure we use up all contents before the next month. It’s a little stressful for now, but I’m grateful that God takes care of all of our needs, and even some of our wants! 🙂
Erin, thank you so much! I appreciate the encouragement.
