AHSC #150

I’m back again with another card for Atlantic Hearts.

AHSC #150

I started by switching out the rectangular shapes in the sketch for triangles using the Geometric Graffiti Cut File from The Cut Shoppe. This particular cut file is a background file that has a lot of triangles so I grabbed just a couple different shaped triangles and shrunk them down to the size I wanted. With the magic of Cricut® Design Space I created a panel for my card using black cardstock. I then backed the triangles with a couple of different patterned papers from American Crafts. For added interest I placed tiny pieces of grey paper along the edges of the triangles.

Now at this point I placed the black panel on the white card base and it was missing something. So I added another piece of white cardstock and just had it peek out from the top and left of the black panel. I had intended on using my sewing machine to stitch the panel but I am currently out of black thread. So I grabbed my embroidery floss and hand stitched along the edge. The sentiment comes from a Freckled Fawn die and a scrap piece of pink paper I had in my stash. I then added a few Pink Flamingo Dots for the final touches.

My card really took on a life of its own this week. I had intended on just switching out the rectangles for triangles but I couldn’t get a banner to work well along the bottom of the card so I opted to use a large sentiment instead. This is the thing I enjoy the most about sketches. They are intended to give you a starting point to spark your creativity. I would love to see your interpretation of sketch #150 so head over to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to enter today!

Thanks for stopping by!
