Read 2 times. Last read February 11, 2016 to February 16, 2016.

Feb 2016: I felt even more sad listening to these shell-shocked soldier characters feeling invisible in society than the first time through. I really love this series.

Dec 2013: Maisie faces the plight of wounded soldiers home from the war for over a decade now, unable to find work, alone and faceless, unwanted by society and filled with pain. One of these men is threatening a mass killing in London and Maisie is asked to help Scotland Yard's Special Branch in a race-against-time plot as they try to uncover his identity and stop him. Maisie also makes some progress in her personal recovery from the war as she faces some more of her dragons and continues healing. These novels are well-written, have good pacing and very engaging characters. The plot elements always make the reader think about wider issues.
