Creative Stenciling Class – Day 7

For those paying attention, no, you aren’t crazy. I’m skipping the day six class homework for the Creative Stenciling class over at StampNation. I still haven’t decided what I want to create for that lesson yet. Rather than just staying stuck there with no ideas, I’ve decided to move ahead with the additional lessons and then circle back to the day six lesson when I come up with an idea. For now, let’s move forward with day seven.

For this card, I used a combination of mediums with the Mini Harlequin stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop. Since I was using wet mediums, I used watercolor paper for my main panel. On the right two-thirds of the panel, I spritzed through the stencil using some gold shimmer spray. For the left third of the panel, I used some metallic gold texture paste. I really like how using the two mediums played so nicely with the slightly grungy style of the stencil. Once dry, I trimmed the panel and matted it with some black cardstock using Scor-Tape then adhered it to a top-folding A2 card base using Tombow Mono tape runner.

For the sentiment, I stamped of the banners from the Bannerific set by Lawn Fawn on a matching piece of black cardstock using VersaMark ink. Inside the banner, I stamped the happy birthday sentiment from A Little Sentiment by Clearly Besotted. I added some gold embossing powder and then heat set everything. I fussy cut the banner and mounted it on my card using some black fun foam and Scor-Tape which finished up this card.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
