Distress Ink Watercolor Friendship Card

Today I am sharing a friendship themed card using various Distress Inks to watercolor the background. Like before, I filmed my process of making this card so make sure to check out the video on my YouTube channel!

To start out with I took a sheet of Tim Holtz water color paper and trimmed it down to 3.5″x3.5″. I brought out my non stick craft mat and chose to use ‘Ripe Persimmon’, ‘Salty Ocean’, and ‘Picked Raspberry’ for my colors. I wanted to use bright colors since this is a friendship card. I used a wet 3/4″ flat brush from Ranger and applied each color with a few swipes across the paper. I didn’t worry about being neat about it, because I wanted it to have an artsy feel.

After applying the color I dried it using my heat tool. I then took my EK Success powder tool to my project and stamped the sentiment “Friends make the world a better place” from the ‘Handwritten Sentiments’ stamp set by Jillibean Soup in VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed the greeting with clear embossing powder. I thought it needed a little something extra to the saying, so I took the tiny heart stamp from the “Booyah” stamp set by Lawn Fawn and heat set that using the same ink and embossing powder.

I cut a piece of craft foam smaller than my panel and adhered them together using my PermaTac Glue Glider Pro. I took a premade brown card base and trimmed it to be 4″x4″. I adhered my panel to the card base making sure that I had the fold to the top and finished the card with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh ‘Sparkling Clear’ sequins.
