Memory Box Plush Bundled Snowman, Mitten and a TIP!

Pam Sparks Felt Snowman with heart

SMILE! This snowman with his sweet heart addition is helping me say Happy New Year to all!

I used the Memory Box Plush Snowman cut from Taylored Expressions wool felt...love her felt!  I cheated though on the orange… I used white and colored it orange with a Copic Sketch Marker!  : )  I didn’t have black thread either, so I colored it with a Copic Sketch Marker! I sewed him up with the backstitch.

I stuffed him with batting.  I pull it apart several times so it’s easy to work with.  One thing I would suggest when you’re making this guy is, cut two of the hat, then you can put the cord between the two for the hanger. I just glued the second hat on the back after I was done.

I know…I’m having a little trouble moving on but I will!  : )  I have some of the new dies from Memory Box and poppystamps to work with so I’ll be sharing REAL soon!

Thursday this week is Release Day for Taylored Expressions and I have 4 cards to share with you then! YAY! I think you’ll like them. Colored and die cut!

BUT…in the meantime, here’s another Plush Mitten from felt.

Pam Sparks Pink Poinsettia Mitten

I saw this variation on the blanket stitch on the inside cover of a CD case! I had to search to find something similar and I do think this is it.  It’s a German Knotted Blanket Stitch.  I love it!

Don’t be mad at me but I just had to experiment with adding a die cut to the top of the mitten.  It’s a discontinued die.  Hoping some of you have it already. It was released in 2013 I believe and it’s a poppystamps die. I used it HERE.

It’s a border die but I used partial die cutting to fit it on the mitten.

Which reminds me, I have a TIP for you!  ok – so you have your BIG standard cutting plates on your Big Shot or die cutting machine.  Well, you know… Sizzix has smaller plates, 3×6, that work AWESOME for stuff like this.  I use them all the time for smaller dies and especially for die cutting the smaller stamped images!  The cutting pads are called Frameworks on the Edge.  I’ll link to them below in the inlinkz.  Just faster to run through the machine!  I love time saving!  AND if you have the cutting plates from the old Sidekick machine…those work great too!  I still use my Sidekick for small dies.  Happy, Happy!

French Knots in the Poinsettia center.  I love French Knots for some reason!  They’re just cool!

Well, that’s it for today!  I can’t believe it’s already the 4th and I missed posting my favorite Christmas cards and favorites for the year!  bummer.

I just changed the blog theme and I like it!  Hope it’s easier for you to see categories and search things.  Holler if you have questions.  I’m here!

Thanks for stopping by!  ttul!

Supplies and dies I used…

If you have a chance – stop by Starlitstudio.net and check out her clearance page… just WOW!

This snowman is not available anymore but here’s a link to see the dies you can buy to use with felt.  Some of them I’ve used, you can use the search box and type in the name of the die to see what I’ve made.

  1. Oh wow!! These are just amazing! That little snowman is adorable! I love the stitches on his scarf! And the mitten… be still my heart! That is gorgeous with the fancy schmancy stitches you did around it. And I love french knots too! haha! Really cute! Don’t move on please!! 😀

  2. Squeal with delight at the darling snowman – he is so cute and how creative you are to make do with what you have!!! No black thread no problem, no orange thread no problem. And the mitten is beautiful.

  3. Snowmen are my favorite. Just perfect stitches! I don’t do as well with my hands anymore. I used to do lots of cross stitch-but I retired from that-and now it’s only stamps!

  4. Oh my gosh Pam!!!!!! That little snowman is perfection even with the copic nose 🙂 gotta love the Copics. This mittim with your gorgeous die is just beautiful! Well done girl! Happy New Year!

  5. Oooooh, I love both of your felt projects, Pam!!!! The little snowman is absolutely adorable and I love the mitten with the flower….just beautiful!!!!

  6. Uh oh…you have found one of my weak spots! I love felt ornaments…I have some that are 35-40 years old!!! This just makes me so happy!!! Great inspiration!

  7. You are so talented Pam–is there anything you can’t do? You stitching is perfect, whether machine stitched or hand stitched and I love the colors of your mittens. Love them both, soooo sweet!!!

  8. These are both just so adorable, I picked up some fall colors of her felt at my LSS last week, was thinking of flowers to make with them. He is just the cutest. Love your mitten too, I have never seen that stitch but it looks so cool and your stitching on the poinsettia looks just like a piece of peppermint candy …. both great projects, look forward to what you have coming too 😉

  9. Sooooo cute…you are amazing. Your projects always make me smile. Thanks for the reminder about the small cutting plates….I actually have some and had forgotten about them…now if I can just remember where I put them. LOL Just kidding….I think I know….I’m actually pretty organized in my craft room.

Hope your holidays were full of fun. Happy New Year!!!

  10. Both snowman and mitten are so adorable. Your workmanship is just flawless. These are the kind of ornaments you would find in a cute cozy shop somewhere high in the snowy mountains of Europe, maybe Belgium, Germany, Sweden, or Italy. Thanks for sharing Pam, these are too cute!

  11. Pam, your second mitten is adorable! Loved how you used the die on it. You set the standard high for me! Like the stitch, too. You are very resourceful, my dear!!!

  12. I’m not putting mine away just yet! You so inspire me Pam!! Always an exceptional project from you – and today there are two!!! Happy New Year Pam!!!

  13. I love your mitten! I have to go check out that stitch. I made over 50 ornaments between the 2 snowmen plushies, the stocking and the mitten. I’m hoping for a ton more in the future. It had been a long time since I had made felt/stitched ornaments. I had a ball. I agree, TE felt is the bomb. I went through a lot. lol

  14. BTW great tip about the hat on the snowman. I stitched 2 hats together except for the bottoms then I stitched them directly onto the snowmen. It didn’t leave me a lot of room to stitch them on. So I squirted a bit of felt glue under the brim to help hold it.

  15. Do you have any advice for getting better cuts with felt? I have the Memory Box plush stocking die and it’s not cutting my felt very well at all. The snowman one is working great though. Disclaimer: I’m a total newbie to the world of die cutting and felt work so any advice you have is great. Thank you!

I love hearing from you! Thank YOU!
