Looking Back at 2015

This was the year we had planned and saved for our big Europe trip!  It was exciting and exhausting at the same time but priceless!  I know I never wrote a trip report on it, maybe I will in the future…

This past year had the first college visits for my Daughter. One was great and one was a disaster!  Learn as you go but using miles/points at least I did not waste “money” going there to see it was not a good fit.  And I introduced Daughter to staying at a Bed and Breakfast, which she loved!

And we did a curve ball trip to see the Pope in Philly.  Nothing I would have ever considered but an amazing experience none the less!

We did our annual Christmas trip but this year to Texas. I am working on writing that one up to share on the blog.  Vacationing over Christmas forces us to make the holiday less about a to do list and more about enjoying each other.  Find a house sitter and go relax!

Squeezed in a late summer long weekend to Cedar Point for some ride time.  We actually found a coaster too fast/tall for Daughter to want to ride.  She rode everything but one so it was a success and a first time to try Chick-fil-A.

So the miles flown were 12,037 this year.  32 nights in a hotel room, 1 in a B & B and 3 in an Airbnb rental.  I really miss my 2nd night free Club Carlson perk.  We are doing other programs and hopefully the travel hacking will pay off again this coming year.

We have had a lot of laughs and good times.  Some tears too and day three meltdowns.  Its all priceless and I am so blessed to be able to experience this with my crazy family.

What is coming for 2016?  A few things look like they might be happening. We are in the discussion for our Christmas 2016 trip.  Throwing out ideas and we will see what sticks.  Daughter might be headed out of the country again this coming summer.  She has an amazing opportunity that if it pans out I think will stretch her and her spirit.  We all need to be out of our comfort zone from time to time to appreciate what we have!

Don’t let the world events keep you home.  I would still fly to Europe today if I had the chance.  When the good Lord calls you home that is your day!  Living in a bubble will not change that.

Travel is such a blessing and I love how you said it stretches the spirit. So true.

  4. Club Carlson downgrade definitely too bad, but it is one I got while it was hot and used for some great experiences. I’m keeping it though for the renewal points for now.
    Happy New Year!
