I grew up in an era where preppy ruled fashion, and I never really outgrew my love of all things pink and green.
This year when it came time to decorate the tree in my dining room, I went with a preppy theme — a white Christmas tree decorated with vintage pink-and-green Shiny-Brite ornaments.
I’m thrilled to be sharing it as part of the Home for Christmas tour, sponsored by Hometalk.com and CountryLiving.com. At the end of this post, you’ll find links to Christmas decorating inspiration from dozens of other bloggers.
My husband and son didn’t have a thing to do with this pink-and-green Christmas tree!
I’m lucky enough to have a few of my grandmother’s old Shiny-Brite ornaments, and I’ve also been collecting them at yard sales and antique stores. I buy any that I find that are affordable, but I really love the preppy pastel ones.
I don’t have enough vintage ornaments to fill the tree, so I added some vintage-inspired newer ones, as well.
I also added some pink and green poinsettias and glittery floral picks (picked up last year at after-Christmas clearance sales).
I also used the flowers as my tree topper.
That’s a favorite designer-inspired trick of mine.
I puddled some moire plaid pink-and-green fabric around the tree base, in place of a skirt. I knew there was a reason I bought that remnant roll of fabric at a yard sale this summer!
I love a Christmas tree with history.
And this one has lots!
If you find any pink and green ornaments, send them my way.
I’ll find a different way to decorate this tree next year. But I’ll definitely use the Shiny-Brite ornaments in my Christmas decorating for years to come.
