Christmas Tree Shaker Card

I really enjoyed the Starbucks shaker card I made last weekend, so I decided to try another shaker card. Since the Starbucks card was so busy, I decided to go for a more CAS (clean and simple) look for this card.

I started by creating a top folding A2 card base as well as a front layer from white Stamper’s Select cardstock by Papertrey Ink. I also cut a smaller layer [3.5×4.75″] from a piece of Bee cold press watercolor paper.

For the front panel, I selected a Christmas tree image from the Merry and Bright cartridge and cut it out using my Cricut Explore then set it aside. I then taped the watercolor paper down to a wooden board using some painter’s tape. I took the Christmas tree shape that had been cut out from the front panel and used it to roughly mark where the star would be on my finished card. I then watercolored the panel using the new watercolor paint palette from Close to My Heart. This was my first time using them and I really loved how bright and vibrant the colors were compared to my other watercolor set. I’m especially excited about the pinks and purples in this set!

While my watercolor panel was drying, I worked on my front panel. The sentiment is from the October My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts. I stamped it using VersaMark ink and then heat set it using Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

To create the shaker element, I adhered a piece of Judikins window sheet using some 1/4″ Scor-Tape to the back of my panel. I then added a double layer of Scotch 3M foam tape all around the tree as well as around the edges of the panel.

I filled the shaker with a combination of a Christmas blend of flat sequins from Virginia Turtle, some heart confetti from Pretty Pink Posh, and some tiny stars and glitter by Recollections that I got at Michaels at some point. I then adhered the panel to the card base and my card was finished.
