Morning and welcome to the start of another week . . .

Morning all,

Hope you all had a great weekend ... my hubby was at the Bristol Model Engineering and Hobby Exhibition all weekend, which left me free to craft without guilt (in between a little shopping and laundry duty!).

However, my plans were slightly altered ....... there I was watching "Twilight" on DVD (as I've managed to be one of the few people who've not seen this before!) My phone rang ... it was a pal and she said five words you don't hear every day (thank goodness) "My house is on fire" ... Having first ascertained she was no longer inside and that she had indeed summoned the fire brigade I then grabbed my keys and headed over to her ....... Fortunately, it was a small fire and no-one was hurt and there was no serious damage although an appliance may potentially need replacing. The fire brigade responded promptly and were most reassuring, and even fitted a new smoke alarm in to the bargain. I took this shot after the drama was pretty much all over.

Needless to say, I stopped for a cuppa to reassure myself that my pal was OK, before returning home to finish my movie and continue with the slightly more than usual amount of crafting that had been taking place whilst hubs was away from the house ....... hence my post today, on a day when I wouldn't NORMALLY post ....

Well it hardly seems like five minutes ago that school broke up but .... I see the "back to school" adverts and offers appearing all over the place and it's even hit blogland ...

My card

SOME of my alphabet stamps - each set cost just a dollar!
I really SHOULD use them more as I've about half a dozen

Materials used:
  • 7" x 5" white, 300gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Snippet of white card on to which I stamped the Lost Coast pencils using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Using brushos I water coloured the pencils before applying Distress Ink in twisted citron to the rest of the snippet
  • Studiog alphabet sets to misspell the words "Back to school" ... yes, it WAS deliberate!!!
  • Black card for matting

I mixed it up with the proportions but I'm pretty sure you can still see the sketch. I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-
  1. Addicted to CAS - challenge No. 70 - SCHOOL
  2. Brown Sugar Challenges - challenge No. 159 - SCHOOL
  3. Aloha Friday - challenge No. 54 - SCHOOL
  4. Kraftin' Kimmie - challenge No. 293 - BACK TO SCHOOL
  5. Craft Stamper - Take It, Make It August challenge - PENS AND PENCILS ...  hope it's not too literal an interpretation for inclusion
  6. CASe this Sketch - challenge No. 136 - SKETCH - see below (2nd entry)

Crumbs, what a fright you your friend, hope everything has settled down for her now - any excuse to get a man in uniform huh?! Love your card with the pencils hun, although I do worry that you sentiment spelling might be quite accurate for many kids. Hugs xx

Well thank goodness your friend wasn't hurt and no serious damage occurred.
Good job the dodgy appliance wasn't the kettle, or you wouldn't have been able to have a cuppa!

Good back to school card . . . but think you need 100 lines for your smelling mistakes(!!!!!) Yes of COURSE I spelled "spelling" incorrectly on purpose!

LOL! xxxx

Oh my ! as you say, you wouldn't want to hear those words from a pal often, if ever again ! Good to hear that there were no injuries or casualties, bet your pal was very shaken though. I've heard before that it can be dangerous to leave a dishwasher switched on after it's finished it's washing cycle (from a fire-fighter who is a family member). At least you were able to get a calming cuppa after all the panic was over.

I love your back to skool card, the pencils look splendid and what great colours you've used.

luv

Oh, goodness, what a fright! I'm glad your friend is okay! Your card is CASlicious, Kathy, and so perfect for the CTS sketch and the time of year! The twins start 5th grade today and it seems like only yesterday that they got out of 4th grade for the summer! (Did someone say Christmas?! Eeek!) Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell
