Adding Color Onto Colored Cardstock / Video

Hello!

I am so excited to share my card with you today. I just got this new stamp set by Simon Says Stamp and I sooo love it. I don’t know what it is about this stamp set, it is quite simple you know, but I just adore it!

The first time I saw it, it was used by Shari Caroll in one of her videos and I liked it so so much that i just had to have it! Couldn’t wait to color these beautiful flowers, so I played around with various mediums and the one technique that I really liked was using Distress paints onto colored cardstock.

In the end I chose some kraft cardstock, stamped the flowers and colored them in with two of the paints that I have, the Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistacchio. Oh, and how beautiful these colors are! And they blend so nicely with eachother also.

I used a aqua brush, but with no water inside, just because it was the only one that I had with such a fine tip. When my paint got too dry I just dipped the tip of the brush and picked up just a tiny bit of water to help me spread the color around.

Once all the flowers were done, I colored the centers with my white gel pen and stamped a couple more of those flower centers onto my background.

I then used another lovely stamp set by SSS to create that black and white strip and also the sentiment that I stamped and embossed onto a vellum circle. To add a bit of shine to the flowers, I of course used the Wink of Stella glitter brush marker and added also a couple fo clear sequins.

To mount my panel I used craft foam to the back and adhesive tape to adhere it onto my card base.

I so like the final result and how these paints dry so intense onto colored cardstock! Will try this technique onto some watercolor paper also as I saw how nicely these paints blend together.

Andreea, your card is stunning!!! I love how you blended the Distress paints together. You’re right–those colors work wonderfully with each other. Also a great idea to use the flower center stamp to fill in around the flowers. I’m amazed how vibrant those paints are on the kraft. I’m sure it’s even prettier in real life. Tfs! ~ Andrea

Thank you, Andrea! And yes, they can get more vibrant if you apply more and more layers of colors:) I still have to try with black cardstock also, can’t wait to see if they work:) Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
