Happy

As I am penning this post, I am still excited from the news of le bf’s sister-in-law who has given birth to a boy yesterday! I can’t wait to meet him when I fly back to Melbourne in a couple of months’ time. šŸ™‚

Ok, back to business… I have been taking part in challenges for the past month and boy was that fun. I joined in this bandwagon relatively late because I didn’t have a lot of time to craft last time due to work and studies. So anyways, it is great participating in challenges because having a theme in mind helps me explore new techniques and colour schemes.

Over the weekend, I created a card which I absolutely adore. I have seen many people creating beautiful night skies using distress inks (best investment ever!) and have tried them before but to no success. I tried it again recently, with a lot of patience and my, my, the result is so stunning I cannot stop looking at it.

I created this background with Mama Elephant’s Shooting Star stamp set in mind. I bought this stamp for awhile now and have only used it once. I love this stamp set for its lovely sentiment because… well, le bf and I are in a long distance relationship so anything that says beyond I love you, just take my money! šŸ˜›

So I created the background with various distress inks and uses my brand new Simon Says’ Falling Star stencils to create a background of stars. I wanted to use Ranger’s Perfect Pearls powder for the sentiment and tried it on a scrap paper but the result didn’t turn out as I have imagined – it wasn’t sharp and crisp. šŸ˜¦

I didn’t want to ruin such a perfect background so I stuck to a method I am familiar with and went ahead to gold-embossed the sentiment using my again, new Simon Says gold embossing powder. At that point, I discovered some fine shimmers on my card and realized that it was from the Perfect Pearls powder so I dusted the remaining of the powder on my brush onto the card and it has a shimmery look. It is, unfortunately, very difficult to capture (as seen above) the shimmer as it is very fine but trust me, it makes the whole night sky so pretty in real life.

The stitched cloud is from Mama Elephant’s Stitched Sky stand-alone die and the girl is coloured with copics and die-cut using its coordinating die.

I love this card so much I am give this to le bf. I am super excited so I showed him a picture first but he doesn’t know when he is going to receive this card. Or rather, he doesn’t know when he is going to receive a card from me. šŸ˜›

This card will be participating in the following challenges:-
