bookshelves: magical, series, young-adult, audio-books
Read 6 times. Last read February 1, 2019 to February 10, 2019.

2019: audio listen to finish up the series again
2018: ditto 2016 comment, although I think this is my favorite of the series because Cole & Isabel change and mature so much as characters through the course of the story
2016: fall re-read via audio because once you start with the Wolves, you have to finish it out
2015: fun re-read

2014: I love me some Maggie Stiefvater. The writing in the Mercy Falls series is beautiful and lyrical because the main characters are Grace and especially Sam, who is a poet and songwriter. This companion novel was requested by fans and is the further story of Cole and Isabel. So the genius of Maggie is that these characters are totally different and the writing style is short and percussive in keeping with the characters. And she is a storyteller. The stories seem as though they will be predictable but then veer off in unexpected ways. In this one, Cole goes to LA to try and be with Isabel and win her over but his fame just keeps getting in the way and her pain over her brother and parents keeps her from being honest with herself. So they revolve around each other but don't share anything. They try to connect but sabotage themselves repeatedly. Will they get together? No spoilers here. Just read and enjoy Maggie.

C. (Comment or e-mail, please never send msg). "Hope And Triumph" is an emotional category, named as you know, with the power of prayer in mind: to get our missing cat home who is a son to us.

Is your story about something more than whether or not a YA couple falls in love, or matures? If you decide to switch categories, just comment at the blog and I am happy to tweak anything. I am determined to generate more chitchat there. Really hoping everyone caught the welcome post. :)
