I’m finally starting to settle into my office, and quickly realized that I was short on storage and needed a quick DIY solution.
I really lucked out with my new house, the owners left a lot of extra building supplies and we had a huge pile of scrapwood that I quickly dug into to create these quick and easy shelves!
Supplies:
- Scrapwood- 1×4, 1×2 sizes
- Wood Glue
- Screws
- Stain
- Cut two 1x4s the same length (I did 24″ long shelves) and glue them in the shape of an L (for the back and bottom of the shelf). See the first photo above, I used soup cans to help keep the wood piece up right.
- Once dry, screw in 3 screws- one on either end and one in the middle- for extra support.
- Then glue the 1×2 (cut to the same size as the 1x4s) and glue onto the front of one of the 1x4s for the front ledge. (See photo #2 above.)
- I also added extra screws for support to the front, but using finishing nails would look so much better (and you wouldn’t need to use any wood filler to fill in the holes).
- Once assembled, sand and stain!
I told you that this was easy!
I kept the same containers from my old office organization project, and that really helped me save some money on reorganizing my new office.
I really love these shelves and once I get the time again, I’m creating two more for the other side of my sewing table for the rest of my knick knacks!
