Welcome to the last Friday before Christmas!

Morning all,

Counting down ......just FIVE full days left before "C" Day - are you ready? Do you THINK you are ready, KNOW you are ready or KNOW YOU ARE NOT!!! GOOD LUCK

And in the interest of catching up with as many people as possible in the run up to Christmas we had a busy day yesterday ..... yesterday morning I was delivering one of my crochet necklaces to a pal then hubby and I were off to visit an aunt and uncle. In the afternoon we were at a pals ... said pal had just completed on a house so we went to have a look round before heading back to hers for a cuppa and a mince pie - nice house mate - looks like a great deal too - ENJOY!

 

I was pretty sure I was ready for Christmas with the trimmings up, cards posted, presents wrapped and under the tree - been exchanging with friends and relatives for the last week ..... but, you know how it is when the postman delivers a card and you think .... "BUM! I didn't send a card to ....", so, I STILL cannot stop myself making yet more Christmas cards. Mind you, this one is just perfect for mailing abroad as it weighs less than the magic 20g in its envelope!! One Layer and Clean And Simple is the way to go postal!!! Now I'm not a religious person but I have friends who are and I HOPE that this will suit them ...

Materials used:

• White C6, 300gsm, scallop edged card blank and matching sized envelope
• Inkadinkado image stamped using Versafine Majestic blue ink
• Inkadinkado sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
• Crafters Companion Spray and Sparkle all over the front of my card to give a festive twinkle

This might make a great batch card, might try it again - perhaps using gold or silver for the angel .... of course the set with the angel image also has reindeer and a bauble to choose from so, watch this space! 2015 quota here I come!

So, in the spirit of flogging a technique or design to death ... I tried it again, I'm still thinking it's a cool card to batch make although these two were done entirely separately. What do you think of it using Hero Arts neon blue in place of the darker Versafine? I varied the design just a smidge but all other details remain the same as the above card ..... now, which do YOU prefer?

I was trawling youtube yesterday and stumbled across this video from Lindsay (aka the frugalcrafter). I think it could be a GREAT idea, a fab way to use your glue gun and all those sticks of glue you have - just waiting for you to use .. check it out, it's just 7 minutes of your life and the possibilities are ENDLESS!

Needless to say ... have glue gun WILL try these things .......

Here's my first batch - run up in about 5 mins so, I should probably practise some more!

Lesson 1 learned:- make sure your glue "trails" touch other "trails" otherwise you're wasting your time!

And you would know I couldn't wait to play either - wouldn't you?

I've now had to order more glue sticks so I can have another go and perhaps make my lines thicker and have more points where they cross too.

And now for the last Friday Funny before Christmas ..... brought to you this week by the power of .... Wynneth's magic wand!! ENJOY ... It's called Old Dog

 

An old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.

 

 

The old German Shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep shit now!"

 

 

Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly,

 

 

"Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?"

 

 

Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.

 

 

"Whew!," says the panther, "That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!"

 

 

Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes.

 

 

The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.

 

 

The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"

 

 

Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says...

 

 

"Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!"

 

 

Moral of this story...

 

 

Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery! Bull Shit and brilliance only come with age and experience.

I heard yesterday that one of my crafting pals is in hospital and another has her husband in hospital - fingers crossed for some improvement to the health of both ... and very soon.
