CASology #70

My card for this week's CASology challenge comes with a bit of an explanation. I saw the cue card "CONTRAST" in my blog reader Newsify this morning and my mind started racing with ideas. Looking out my window I saw this -

and I immediately thought how bursts of color would contrast so nicely against white. And I had a Reverse Confetti set that would work perfectly! But I did not have time to read the full post or any of the DT posts before I sat down to making some cards.

So I came up with this card -

I loved my card because it was so bright, happy, and simple. Made be happy in this weather! I really loved it, at first anyway. Then I read the full CASology post and the CAS vs. non-CAS explanations on the DT blogs (especially Ardyth's) afterward and realized that my card was not so CAS after all! Ugh. The DT did a brilliant job with their examples so I went back to the drawing board and came up with this -

Definitely more white space (or in this case black space) with this one.

So what do you think? Do you like the second one better too?

Looking forward to checking out everyone's take on CONTRAST. Thanks for taking a peek at mine!

  1. What an amazing view outside your window. My girls would go nuts to wake up to that--they complain they have never seen snow! Anyway, I think that both of your cards are bright, cheery and fab--and I agree with you that the latter is more CAS. Thank you for playing along with CASology this week.

  2. How fun, love reading your interpretation of the challenge...looking out your window. I get caught up in the creating and crafting all the time and then realize, it was suppose to be CAS or a birthday card or whatever. I love both of your cards but do agree that the 2nd one is spot on for CAS. Love the boldness and contrast in colors:)

  5. Sherrie, you did an amazing job, too, just like the DT members, with your contrast between CAS and non-CAS. Truth be told, I love both of these!! Hugs, Darnell

  6. I really love both of your cards, Sherrie, as well as your thought processes behind both of them. I agree the second one is a bit more CAS but they are both awesome in their own right! Thanks so much for playing along with CASology this week!

  7. Sherrie, it's crazy here in New Jersey with all this snow, isn't it?! I was out shoveling again today...I'm getting in shape, that's for sure! Anyway, I was thrilled with your post today because you really showed the contrast of CAS and not-so-CAS (but still wonderful). Both cards are amazing! I'm so glad you joined in the fun at CASology this week!
