Make It Monday #3: Glitter Strips with Scor Tape

Hello Friends! Happy weekend! I am so pleased to have finished this card this morning so I can share it with you and participate in Papertrey Ink’s Make It Monday Challenge.

PTI Make It Mondays

Like most of you, I’m ready for spring! We had yet another snow storm yesterday while we were at school. It came down in heavy white clouds all day. It was so grey and dreary. Despite the chilly temperatures, the sun is trying to shine today and I’m longing for flowers, bees and butterflies.

Glitter Make It Monday

Back to the card…. This week’s challenge was to use scor tape and glitter on your card. I used 1/8” scor tape on my Lavender Moon satin ribbon to create some sparkle. I like dressing up pretty ribbon this way! This is a very clean and simple card so the construction is straight forward. I used Plum Pudding cardstock for the base and scalloped flower, white cardstock that I ran through the Sizzix with a Linen & Canvas Impression Plate and a piece of patterned paper from my Pretty Pastels pad. The cute sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages. All of these items are from Papertrey Ink except the pearls and butterfly punch. Those are from Martha Stewart. If anyone has any tips for using the impression plates, please share them with me. This is the first time that I have used this tool and it was a little bit intimidating. I was sure I couldn’t get the pattern straight on the cardstock and I had to keep playing with it. Thank you for stopping by this weekend! I have to get busy on the Military Ball invitations today. They won’t be as involved as last year’s set but the prototype turned out cute and the kids were happy. I think that’s what is important. Right? Have a wonderful weekend!!

Very pretty CAS card Heidi! The glittered ribbon looks fab and I love the sweet butterfly! I have not used an impression plate so sorry I can not be of help.

What a beautiful effect the glitter strip is on the ribbon - and your card is so clean that nothing detracts from it, the effect is so fresh! I find this so delicate!

The only thing that sometimes helps with the plates is to mist your paper lightly with water, and wait a minute to let the water soak into the paper fibres, before embossing - you get a deeper impression on the paper that way. Of course you have to let the paper dry a bit afterwards - and sometimes need to put it under something light to straighten out again. For lining up ... I don't really have any tips other than a steady hand :0) HTH and that someone else will have some ideas too! xx N
