DIY Kids Art – Stamping With Legos & Cars

Stamping With Legos - Kids DIY Craft

I love doing art with my little kiddo. We don’t do anything fancy or too complicated. Mostly, it’s just us two, drawing something fun and then filling it with lovely colors. It is the perfect exercise for little hands and minds and the perfect bonding experience for me.

As an added bonus, I get to display some unique pieces in my home. Last weekend, when Boy was happily working on yet another car painting (sigh… boys!!), I decided to let him have fun with stamping patterns. We used Legos and a couple of matchbox cars to create these pretty artwork.

Here is the little guy in action.

Stamping With Legos

All the supplies you need – paper, paint (preferably poster or acrylic), Legos or building blocks in all sizes and shapes, and a willing participant.

I just love how they turned out. Older kids might be able to follow a pattern while stamping, but for now, I just let him have fun.

Don’t limit yourself to stamping just the outlines, slather paint on the sides of the blocks and stamp them too (like the brown square in the picture below). This makes for some lovely shapes, colors and textures.

And of course, we had to paint some car wheels and run them over the paper.

Stamping With Toy Cars

Look how cool it turned out. Vroom vroom!

This project was inspired by Sarah’s Potato Stamped Wreath. I would love to do something cute like that. Now that I’ve introduced Boy to stamping, he seems hooked. Potatoes and apples, let’s get stamping!

Look no further for inspiration on how to easily create a rotating display of your kid’s artwork.

Kids Artwork Display Wall 5I have since updated it like this. All I used was a lovely painted frame, some yarn and clothespins.
