7 Fun Halloween Books For Toddlers

Sharing is caring!

Halloween Books for Toddlers
Being a language arts major I love books, and I’m a huge fan of holidays.  So when a holiday like Halloween comes around we not only pull out tubs full of decorations, but we also pull out a stack of holiday themed books.  Nick has inherited my love for books, and it seems for holidays as well.  There are certain holiday books that he has that he likes us to read all year.  After a few years of Halloween book reading here is our list of our 7  favorite Halloween books for toddlers.  These are listed in alphabetical order.
  1. 10 Trick-0r-Treaters by Janet Schulman – I bought this book for Nick last year and it was an immediate hit.  I gave it to him when we were on our cruise and just about every night he would make me read it to him over and over again.  He would cry when I told him reading time was done, and he’d even have to take the book to bed!  Needless to say this is one of the books that he often wants us to read all year long.  It’s an adorable counting book that tells about ten trick-or-treaters (bet you didn’t see that coming), and one by one something to do with Halloween scares them away.  That might sound a little scary, but it isn’t at all.  The pictures are adorable and full of color.  Luckily I think it’s cute too since we read it so much.
  2. Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch by Alyssa Satin Capucilli – This is a fun board book about what happens when you go to the pumpkin patch.  It’s perfect for getting your little one revved up for their own pumpkin patch visit.
  3. Biscuit’s Pet & Play Halloween by Alyssa Satin Capucilli – This book can go both ways depending on the age of the toddler.  Last year Nick was really into touch and feel books, but this year they don’t hold the same appeal.  That being said I think this book is really great for kids that might be frightened by some parts of Halloween.  It’s all about figuring out that kids in different costumes are actually friends.
  4. Clifford’s First Halloween by Norman Bridwell – OK so who doesn’t love Clifford the big red dog?  It’s even better when he’s a puppy!  Normally Clifford books are seen as preschool age and up, and I know I loved them for many years, but now they’ve come out with this one in board book form.  It’s perfect for the toddler crowd.
  5. Five Little Pumpkins – Many toddlers know the Five Little Pumpkins rhyme and game, so this nice board book is really a hit with them.  Nick didn’t know it, but he’s really into Halloween pumpkins (as he calls them) this year, so he just loves looking at all the pictures.
  6. Haunted Clubhouse (Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) – We’ve had this book since Nick’s very first Halloween.  It’s a cute board book that has peek windows that allow a picture from the next page to be incorporated with the page before it.  The story is about the Clubhouse friends helping Donald figure out a Halloween costume.  It’s very cute, and if you’re little one is a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fan than they’ll love it.
  7. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Trick or Treat – This is another book for Mickey Mouse fans.  This one is a lot of fun because it’s a Play-a-Sound book.  I love that it helps prepare kids for Halloween because on each page they have to “ring the doorbell” to see a different Clubhouse friend.  To keep things fresh the doorbell button plays a few different doorbell sounds too.  There are other sound buttons as well, so this is a hit with kids that like sound books.

What are your favorite Halloween books for toddlers?
