Simple Birthday Party Decor

Simple Birthday Decor at Home

So, we celebrated or rather have been celebrating Boy’s birthday the past week. Since we were having a party for his friends elsewhere, I decided to keep the decor at home simple and sweet.

PHOTO WALL BACKDROP

Some of you may have noticed the photo wall backdrop in my race car birthday cake post. I wanted to keep the decor simple and meaningful this year. I spied this photo wall on Apartment Therapy and thought it would be fun to do.

I did four rows to represent how he’s grown over the last four years. It was fun to take out the photos from the album and put it up on the wall for a few days.

Here is Boy, checking it out.

It made a really cute backdrop for pictures. And everyone who visited us over the week, enjoyed looking at them. It is such a simple, fun idea and makes for great conversation.

And of course, there were a lot of vehicles involved in the party!

LEGO BIRTHDAY NUMBER WREATH/HANGING

I made a crepe paper number ‘3’ last year. This time, I made a super simple number ‘4’ with little Lego blocks on a Lego board. I hung it over a framed print on my basket wall and added wooden letters to spell B-D-A-Y.

DIY RACE CARS CAKE STAND

Since the cake was pretty small-ish, I wanted to add some height to it. What better than a DIY cake stand? I simply filled a large, clear glass vase with little race cars, and placed a glass plate on top to hold the cake.

Simple, colorful and fun. Exactly how birthdays should be, in my opinion!

Hope you got some ideas for your little one’s birthday. I have a few more posts coming up, of some DIY decor ideas for the main kiddie party. Stay tuned.

And oh, if you are wondering about the cake, yes, it is homemade. Here is the how-to.
