Good morning, crafty friends! I’m so happy to show you the card that I worked on all day long yesterday. Yes, I meant “all day long” literally. I had no idea I would spend so much time making this card, but I wanted it to be perfect in my eyes. I tried out a couple of different patterned papers, stamping images, and so on. When I didn’t like the result, I started over. Then I finally chose the colors, papers and stamps that I liked.
So here is my card using a sketch from Mojo Monday #283. While making this one, I was thinking of my sweet hubby who is the one I love the most. Then I wanted to bring imagery of our dream of a beautiful garden onto my card. The green chevron stands for a grassy lawn where all the colorful flowers bloom and butterflies fly. And the green baker’s twine represents a picket fence. I know that usually comes in white. But why not green?
I also added some machine-stitching on the colorful chevron card stock to give my card cozy and comfortable look just like home. By the way, my inspiration came from Desperate Housewives – Season 8, Episode 17: Women and Death that I watched a few days ago. Once you watch this episode, especially the conversation between Lynette and Tom, you will know what I’m trying to express here on my card.
For the focal point, I arranged the stamped flowers on the green polka-dot fabric that I sewed onto a white felt background. FYI, I used the Funky Florals stamp set to create the beautiful flowers. I affixed a pearl in the middle of each flower. Then I placed a couple of strings of pearls under the flowers, which represent a dreamy spring haze. (At this point, I’m not sure whether you can feel the haze from them, though.) Using a Martha Stewart 3 in 1 Butterfly punch, I punched several butterflies and glued them next to the flowers. What a gorgeous garden! This card would be a perfect birthday card for a person born in the Spring time. What
I love how my card turned out – colorful and lovely. I hope you enjoyed my card, and you find a little bit of inspiration.
